What you will do

Configure a private key that matches a public key authorized on the server.

Before you start

• An active Pro subscription. Third-party AI subscriptions and API credits are separate.
• A working internet connection for the service or download used in this tutorial.
• A reachable SSH server, its hostname/port, a username, and the authentication method you are authorized to use.

Keep in mind

Keep private-key files out of Git repositories and shared exports. Use a separate unshared local folder and an SSH key format supported by Vibeit (Ed25519 or RSA).

Follow the steps

1. 1Select SSH KeyEdit or add a host and choose SSH Key. The server must already authorize the matching public key for this user.
2. 2Enter the local private-key file pathImport the private-key file into the local workspace. Copy the workspace folder path from Settings → Workspace, append the key filename, and enter that full path in Private key path. This field takes a file path, not the key contents or the server path.
3. 3Enter the key passphrase if neededFor an encrypted key, use its passphrase. This is not necessarily the server account password. Save the profile.
4. 4Verify and connectVerify the host fingerprint, then connect and open the remote directory. If rejected, check the username and matching authorized public key.

If it does not work

• For a timeout, check the host, port, network route and server availability.
• For authentication failures, check the username and matching password or private key.
• If the host fingerprint changes, verify it through a trusted channel before replacing the saved fingerprint.
