What you will do

Save a server profile, verify its host key and open its remote files.

Before you start

• An active Pro subscription. Third-party AI subscriptions and API credits are separate.
• A working internet connection for the service or download used in this tutorial.
• A reachable SSH server, its hostname/port, a username, and the authentication method you are authorized to use.

Locations → + → Add Remote Host

Follow the steps

1. 1Add a remote hostChoose Add Remote Host from Locations. Keep the server address and SSH username ready.
2. 2Enter the connection detailsChoose Direct (TCP), then enter the host, port and username. Use the actual server port; 22 is the usual SSH default.
3. 3Select password authenticationChoose Password and enter the SSH password. Save the profile. Saving the form does not prove that the server is reachable.
4. 4Verify the host keyChoose Verify Host Key. Compare the displayed fingerprint with one obtained from the server administrator or another trusted channel before trusting it.
5. 5Open the remote directoryConnect to the saved host and confirm that the remote file list loads. Open a small file to verify read access.

If it does not work

• For a timeout, check the host, port, network route and server availability.
• For authentication failures, check the username and matching password or private key.
• If the host fingerprint changes, verify it through a trusted channel before replacing the saved fingerprint.
